Doctor Who is a class show. I’m 11 and totally addicted. The plots are not difficult I even write FanFics and have several HeadCanons. The Silence are terrifying but in the words of Steven himself:

‘Tramatizing a generation, thats what it’s all about.’

I love the Doctor.

This just occurred to me tonight. Yet again as we’re watching NORAD track Santa and rushing our little girl to sleep I’m pondering how Santa does it. It finally occurred to me that the only possible explanation is that Santa’s sleigh is a Tartus.

i’d love to see an episode take this on as a premise!

The boys are in control because even though the girls have blackmail pictures of them , what the girls don’t know is that they have black underpants (which their lil bro grabbed thinking it was a dish cloth) and the reason the girl looks so uncomfortable on the cover is because she just ran around like a madwoman and the boy is taking a pic cuz she’s wearing old fashioned underpants ,for blackmail

I dont see how its a kids show. I see it more as a family show, or just GOOD television. Yes there a shows i like, like south park and family guy that arnt for kids. But just because a show doesnt have a lot of blood, sex or language doesn’t mean its not for adults. A good show can grab anybody into the story without needing sex or language, which is why i think the show is so good. The writers are very good at what they do.

Just like to say that Doctor Who is probably more of a family show than a kids show or adult show. I think even going back to the 60s there is something for everyone. Shrek is loved by kids for example; however, there is a lot of adult humour in it that they hopefully don’t understand. Same with Doctor Who. People should really investigate torchwood themselves before letting kids of any age watch it. ;)

I am 12 and I like the show but I have a friend who is six but I often tell him knot to watch for the sexual side of the show is knot thought about anought for I do like the show because I have watched it from being six and I feel like its growing up with me but thy need to concentrate on the younger generation and knot complicate it to much so younger ones don’t understand

brilliant to find out I am not alone. Thank you. The Term ‘Father’ doesn’t actually mean father, anymore than ‘Doctor’ indicates medical knowledge. Also there is a Mrs Christmas but no little Christmasses, she is actually merely his companion, not an actual wife.

Michelle, I’ve definitely gone back and forth on this issue since this original blog post, but let me add this, I have a co-worker with a 9-year old and a 5-year old, both love Doctor Who. But they are deathly afraid of the weeping angels and have had numerous nightmares about them. These are not children who normally scare easily, when the older child was 4-years old, she watched Joss Whedon’s SERENITY and the reavers didn’t faze her at all. At 7 or 8, She devoured the first season of Buffy with no issues. So while your children may not have spent the night in your bed after watching BLINK for the first time, your experience isn’t a universal one.

Now, I have softened on my position a bit, and I don’t think I would call DOCTOR WHO inappropriate for children anymore (or at least not for older children), but I will say I still can’t see it first and foremost as a children’s show. Which, going by Alex Kingston’s comments, is what it’s apparently sold as in the UK.
